Synthesia's updates page, dated September 25, 2026, says B-roll can be generated at 720p, 1080p or 4K. Sume Avatar 1.0 does not offer a resolution choice: the avatar video resolution is currently 720p. If you need higher-resolution inserts, you add them as separate clips and combine them in an editor or with Sume's timeline tools.

What the 720p means in practice

A 720p avatar clip is fine for vertical social placements and web embeds. For a broadcast cut or a large screen, plan for the presenter at 720p and B-roll at whatever you can source. Mixing resolutions in one timeline works if you export to a single target.

Quality tier changes the render model, not the pixel count: standard, plus and max differ in price per second, from $0.184 to $0.55 without a product image.

Build the cutaway

Make the talking head with the script, then generate or source B-roll separately and put it over the audio. The post on adding b-roll to an avatar talking head walks through the pattern.

Keep the avatar audio as the spine and cut visuals over it, so the voice and lips stay in sync.
