Runway product_ad recipe: 200 credits for 4 s vs a Sume product clip

Runway's product_ad recipe lists 200 credits ($2.00) for 4 seconds at 720p plus 36 per extra second. A 10 s ad is $4.16. Sume Wan 3.0: $1.25 for 10 s.

Runway's API pricing page lists a recipe called product_ad at 200 credits for a 4-second 720p video, plus 36 credits for each additional second. A credit costs $0.01 on that page, so a 4-second ad is $2.00 and a 10-second ad is 200 + 6 x 36 = 416 credits, or $4.16. At 1080p the page lists 216 credits as the starting price. On Sume there is no recipe called product_ad. You build the same job from parts you price yourself: an image-to-video clip from your product photo, optional captions and an optional music bed. This post puts the two side by side with numbers, and says plainly where they are not the same product.

What each side bills

Runway bills a recipe as one line: a base for 4 seconds, then a rate per extra second. The pricing page does not describe what a recipe builds inside, so this post compares price only and does not claim equal output.

Sume bills the clip by the model you pin. Wan 3.0 is a flat per-second rate by resolution: list $0.10 per second at 720p, times Sume's 1.25 house multiplier, which is $0.125 per second. Seedance 2.5 is billed by video tokens, ceil(width x height x seconds x 24 / 1024) at a list rate of $0.0214 per 1,000 tokens at 720p, then times 1.25. Both are described in the Video Router docs and listed with durations in the video models guide.

4, 6 and 10 seconds at 720p

Same lengths, same resolution. Sume rows assume you already have the product photo, so there is no image cost.

6 s$2.72$0.75$3.4668
10 s$4.16$1.25$5.778

Where the gap comes from

A Wan 3.0 clip is a quarter of the Runway recipe price at 4 seconds and under a third at 10. A Seedance 2.5 clip is about 16 percent more than the recipe at 4 seconds and about 39 percent more at 10. Seedance bills tokens, so it grows faster with length than a recipe's 36 credits per extra second.

The comparison favours Sume on price only if the Wan look is acceptable for your product. Run the same photo and prompt through both Sume rows with two or three clips before you commit a batch.

What you add on Sume to make it an ad

A clip is not yet an ad with a price card. Sume's supporting jobs are flat: captions burned onto a finished clip are $0.20 per job (video captions), and Timeline assembly is $0.10 per output minute (Timeline). Music is $0.125 per generation through the Music Router.

  • 10 s Wan 3.0 clip + captions: $1.25 + $0.20 = $1.45, against $4.16 for the 10-second recipe.
  • 10 s Seedance 2.5 clip + captions + music bed: $5.778 + $0.20 + $0.125 = $6.103.
  • Failed generations on Sume are not billed; check the errors and credits docs for the reserve-and-capture rule.

When Runway's single line is the better buy

If you want one call that returns a finished product ad and you value that more than assembling parts, a priced recipe is simpler to budget. If you run dozens of variants, or need a specific length that is not 4 plus whole seconds, Sume's per-second and per-token rows let you price each variant before you submit. Prices on both pages can change, so re-read them before a large run.
