Runway grok_imagine_image_2 reference image cost, per request
On Runway, grok_imagine_image_2 costs outputCount × perImage plus 1 credit per reference, charged once per request. Worked example, and Sume's Grok image price.

Runway bills grok_imagine_image_2 as outputCount × perImage plus referenceCount × 1 credit. References are charged once per request, not once per output image, so four 1K medium images with two references cost 4 × 6 + 2 = 26 credits, or $0.26 at $0.01 per credit.
Sume lists the Grok image model as x-ai/grok-image with a flat per-image price. Read 2026-10-01.
What is perImage on Runway?
It depends on quality and resolution. Default quality is medium; anything other than low, including an omitted quality, bills as medium. auto_1k and auto_2k bill at the 1K and 2K tiers.
| Quality | 1K | 2K |
|---|---|---|
| low | 4 | 6 |
| medium | 6 | 8 |
How do references change the total?
Runway caps outputCount at 4 and references at 3, so the largest single request is 35 credits. Because references are charged once, adding outputs to a request with references spreads that reference cost across more images.
What does Sume charge for a Grok image?

| Model id | Sume estimate per image |

How do I check the number for my request?
Paid generation uses public Sume USD estimates, so read the endpoint price line before submitting. The margin rule is covered in why an image costs list × 1.25.
