Restyle a video as claymation or watercolor with Gemini Omni

Apply a claymation or watercolor look to existing footage with Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 on Sume: Google's style wording, the edit request, and a still check.

To restyle a clip as claymation or watercolor with Gemini Omni Flash 1.1, send the clip as video_url and write a short prompt naming the style and what to keep, such as "Restyle as claymation. Keep the motion and framing the same." Google's Omni guide says styles like anime, claymation and watercolour can be applied to existing motion, with the source referenced in angle brackets.

The style wording below comes from Google DeepMind's Omni prompt guide and the Gemini API Omni documentation, read on 2026-10-03. Google does not publish how closely any style follows the source motion, so treat each result as something to check.

What Google says about style transfer

The guide describes taking motion from one video and applying a style to it, and separately lists an edit mode where a prompt like "Keep everything else the same" limits the change. The Gemini API docs list edit as a task alongside text-to-video, image-to-video, reference-to-video and extend. They also say input video for edit and extend must be 10 seconds or less and that uploaded-video editing is unavailable in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.

Write the restyle prompt

Name one style and one thing to preserve. "Restyle as hand-painted watercolour with soft edges and visible paper texture. Keep the camera move and the subject's actions unchanged." is enough. Do not add new objects in the same request; if you want one, run a second edit on the restyled clip so each result is easy to judge.

Dialogue and music are regenerated with the clip, because audio is always on in Omni. Google's docs say voice editing is not supported, so do not expect the original voice to be kept. Plan to replace the soundtrack if the speech matters.

Send it on Sume

Sume's edit mode is chosen by video_url: it cannot be combined with image_url, end_image_url or reference_*_urls, takes no aspect_ratio or duration, and resolution defaults to 720p. Native audio is always on.

  }'

Check before you publish

Sample stills from the result with Video inspect and compare them to stills from the source at the same timestamps. Look for changed faces, dropped objects and a camera that moved. If the style is right but a detail drifted, rerun with the drifting detail named explicitly. The Video Router docs list the edit rules and billing.
