Roundel video ads in :06, :15 and :30: cut one master with Sume
Roundel's guides list :06, :15 and :30 video creative. Cut three lengths from one master with Sume video trim; what its pages leave to a Roundel rep.

Roundel's programmatic guide lists the option to run 6-, 15- or 30-second video creatives through VAST (recommended) and VPAID tags, and its display guide lists the same durations as :06, :15 and :30 (read 2026-10-03). Sume's video trim can cut a master into those three lengths, $0.02 per job.
It does not produce tags or check Roundel's specs. The pages say little about files, so ask your Roundel rep for them before you export.
What do Roundel's pages specify?
Both guides are short. What they leave out matters more than what they say, so the table has a column for it.
- Banner sizes are listed separately for programmatic and display.
- Display placements include Target.com product listing and detail pages, and homepage takeovers.
- Confirm everything not on the page with a Roundel rep.
| Item | Page says | Not on the page |
|---|---|---|
| Programmatic video | 6-, 15- or 30-second creatives via VAST (recommended) and VPAID tags | File size, bitrate, audio, frame rate, VAST version |
| Display video | In-stream, out-stream and full-episode player; :06, :15, :30 | File types, sizes, text limits |
| Audio with display | Audio :15 and :30 with 300x250 display | Audio file spec |
| Programmatic lead time | Allow 3 to 5 business days, including deals with measurement | Display lead time, rush options |
How do I cut three lengths?
Video trim takes one clip on media.sume.com, a start, and exactly one of end or duration, and returns a new MP4 (the source is untouched). The default mode is async; pass mode: "sync" to wait up to 30 seconds.
A trim is a cut, not a rewrite. A 30-second master cut to 6 seconds keeps the first six seconds of picture, so the hook and the product have to be there. If they are not, rebuild the short version on a timeline instead.
import os, uuid, requests
H = {"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['SUME_API_KEY']}"}
SRC = "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/master30.mp4"
for secs in (6, 15, 30):
r = requests.post("https://api.sume.com/v1/video-trim",
headers={**H, "Idempotency-Key": str(uuid.uuid4())},
json={"video_url": SRC, "start": 0, "duration": secs,
"mode": "sync"}, timeout=60)
r.raise_for_status()
print(secs, r.json().get("request_id"))How do I read the result?
Read each result at GET /v1/jobs/{id}/result; the video_url there is a new artifact. Check duration_seconds against the length you asked for before delivery.
For a short version that is not a straight cut, Timeline 1.0 assembles clips and audio, at $0.10 per output minute rounded up.
What Sume does not do
Sume does not wrap a clip in VAST or VPAID, test it in a Roundel player, or know Roundel's file rules. Treat the three trimmed files as masters and let your Roundel contact or your ad server do the tag.
