Pinterest 1:1, 2:3, 4:5, 9:16 video ads: four Sume renders, $0.40

Pinterest recommends four ratios for standard video ads. A 15-second ad in 1080x1080, 1080x1620, 1080x1350 and 1080x1920 is four Sume renders at $0.10.

Pinterest recommends square (1:1) and vertical (2:3, 4:5, 9:16) formats for standard video ads, and the four Sume renders for a 15-second ad cost $0.40 in total. A good set of even sizes is 1080x1080, 1080x1620, 1080x1350 and 1080x1920. Pinterest's page lists no resolution, so these sizes are my choice, not Pinterest's (Pinterest page, read 2026-10-09).

What Pinterest lists

For standard width video ads the page lists .MP4, .MOV or .M4V, H.264 or H.265, up to 2 GB, a length of 4 seconds to 15 minutes with 6 to 15 seconds recommended, and an aspect ratio 'shorter than 1:2 (width:height), taller than 1.91:1'. The recommended shapes are 1:1, 2:3, 4:5 and 9:16. The page lists no pixel sizes.

Ratios from the Pinterest page and Sume Timeline docs, read 2026-10-09; the sizes are a choice, since the page lists none

Checking the arithmetic on 2:3

2:3 at 1080 wide means a height of 1080 x 3 / 2 = 1620. Both numbers are even, so Sume's timeline accepts the size. 4:5 at 1080 wide is 1080 x 5 / 4 = 1350, which is also even. 9:16 at 1080 wide is 1080 x 16 / 9 = 1920. No rounding is needed for any of the four.

Price and length

A timeline render costs $0.10 per output minute, rounded up, so 15 seconds is one billed minute whatever the size. The recommended Pinterest length of 6 to 15 seconds is always one minute, so you will never pay for a second minute unless you go over 60 seconds. If you only need one ratio, the cost is $0.10.

The minimum on the page is 4 seconds. Sume's timeline accepts audio spines from 1 second and slots of at least 0.2 seconds, so Sume can make a clip shorter than Pinterest allows. Check the length before upload; the shortest-ad post covers it.

Max width videos are different

The same page lists max width video ads, with the same file types, codec, size and length, but an aspect ratio that 'cannot exceed the height of a 1:1 aspect ratio'. Read that line in the context of the page before you design for it; the max width post quotes it. If you only make standard video ads, the four renders above are the full set the page recommends.
