Ordered Wrong Size on TikTok Shop: a fit clip per SKU costs $2.76
TikTok Shop now tags size returns as buyer-fault when evidence of unused condition exists. A 15 s Sume avatar sizing clip per SKU is $2.76 on Standard.

A new return reason, "Ordered Wrong Size", classifies size-related returns as buyer-fault on TikTok Shop, and buyers must submit evidence of unused condition. A 15-second sizing clip per SKU costs $2.76 on Sume Standard and repeats the size guidance where a buyer decides.
The policy page dates the reason to September 2026 and applies it to fashion sellers. It does not promise fewer returns for anyone who adds a video, and neither does this post. The clip is a cheap way to repeat the size guidance at the moment a shopper decides.
What the policy changes for a seller
Before, a wrong-size return could land on the seller's side of the ledger. With this reason, a size return that has proof of unused condition is classified buyer-fault. That makes accurate pre-purchase guidance more valuable: you cannot control the return, but you can control whether the listing told the buyer how the size runs.
- Say how the product runs, using only facts from your size chart or your own measurements.
- Name the model height and the size worn only if a real fitting took place.
- Point to the chart in the listing; do not invent a recommendation rule.
- Keep the clip short enough to watch: 12 to 20 seconds.
Cost of one clip per SKU
A 15-second clip needs about 42 words at Sume's estimate of 2.8 words per second. Each tier prices per second, so the budget scales linearly with catalog size.
Figures assume the planned clip seconds equal the estimate; the API returns the exact price in the response.
| Quality | Per clip | 25 SKUs | 100 SKUs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard at $0.184/s | $2.76 | $69.00 | $276.00 |
| Plus at $0.245/s | $3.675 | $91.88 | $367.50 |
| Max at $0.55/s | $8.25 | $206.25 | $825.00 |
Rolling it out without overspending
Do not run 100 at once. Write the script for the three SKUs with the most size returns, listen for number errors, then widen. A Free plan runs one generation at a time; Pro runs four, Startup eight and Scale twenty, as listed in the generation limits docs, so a 100-SKU list takes several rounds on lower plans.
Add a product image only if the product shot helps the viewer; it raises the per-second rate from $0.184 to $0.194 on Standard.
What a clip cannot do
It cannot prove fit and should not suggest it. If the chart is wrong, the clip repeats the error. Fix the chart, then the clip.
