Omni draft-then-final monthly budget: 40 clips, 3 drafts each
A 40-clip month of 8 s Omni spots: three 360p drafts per clip plus a 1080p final is $96 on Sume, against $240 if every attempt runs at 1080p. Table inside.

Forty 8-second spots a month, each with three 360p drafts and one 1080p final, costs $96.00 on Sume. Running all four attempts per spot at 1080p instead costs $240.00, so drafting saves $144.00 a month at this volume.
All prices come from the Video Router page for gemini-omni-flash-1.1, with Google's own framing of 360p as a draft mode that is a third of the cost of 720p (Google blog, read 2026-10-05). On Sume the 360p rate is $0.03 list, which is 30 percent of the $0.10 list at 720p.
Per-spot arithmetic
An 8-second clip is $0.30 at 360p, $1.00 at 720p, $1.50 at 1080p and $3.00 at 4K after the 1.25 multiple and per-clip rounding. The default clip length on the Omni catalog row is 8 seconds, and 8 seconds is also the default length on the Sume Auto controls, which is why it is used here.
| Plan per spot | Per spot | 40 spots |
|---|---|---|
| 4 attempts, all 1080p | $6.00 | $240.00 |
| 3 drafts at 360p + 1080p final | $2.40 | $96.00 |
| 3 drafts at 360p + 720p final | $1.90 | $76.00 |
| 3 drafts at 360p + 4K final | $3.90 | $156.00 |
Where the budget moves
- Each extra draft per spot adds $0.30, so 40 spots at five drafts instead of three adds $24.00.
- Moving the final from 1080p to 4K adds $1.50 per spot; that is a bigger lever than drafts.
- A 720p final saves $0.50 per spot against 1080p and is the cheaper plan when the clip is watched on a phone.
Set the cap from the number
Compute the monthly figure, then hold your own request budget a little above it for rerolls. Because Sume reserves the balance on submit at the billable rate, a 4K batch with a thin balance fails with 402 insufficient_credits before it spends anything; the Video generation page lists the error table.
Count only successful jobs against the budget in your own ledger, and store the draft and final job ids side by side so a finance question later is a lookup.
Why 8 seconds
Eight seconds suits a social spot: long enough for a hook, a beat and a close. It is also inside the 3 to 10 second Omni range, so one request makes one spot. If your spots run 10 seconds, the costs scale by 10/8 before rounding: $0.38 per 360p draft and $1.88 per 1080p final, so 40 spots at three drafts each is $120.80.
A planning template
Keep a small sheet with one row per spot: draft count, final resolution, final job id, billed total. The formula is draft count times the 360p price plus the final price. For 8-second spots the 360p price is $0.30, 720p is $1.00, 1080p is $1.50 and 4K is $3.00. With that, a month is a sum you can check against your Sume usage view rather than a guess.
If your volume is higher, scale linearly: at 200 spots the three-draft 1080p plan is $480 and the all-1080p plan is $1,200. Per-clip rounding means the totals are exact multiples, with no fractional-cent drift to reconcile.
Pacing the batch
Forty spots with three drafts is 160 jobs in a month, and each one is an independent async job. Submit the drafts together, review them as a contact sheet, then submit the finals. The Video Router returns the usual async job envelope, so a batch is a loop of POST calls followed by polling or a callback.
The reserve rule matters at the start of the month: the balance is held at the billable rate on submit, so a wave of 40 finals at 4K ($120) needs that much free balance at once, even though the money is only captured as each job completes.
Assumptions
Three drafts per spot is a planning number, not a Sume figure. Replace it with your own acceptance rate: if your team approves a draft on the first try, the plan collapses to one draft and one final, $1.80 per spot.
