Does Meta's AI info label apply to video ads? What the page says
Meta's help page on AI info for ads covers images made or significantly edited with its AI tools or third-party AI tools. It does not describe video ads.

Meta's help page says an AI info label appears on ads created or significantly edited with Meta's generative AI creative features, or created or edited with third-party AI tools. The page is titled for AI-generated images, and the text I read does not describe video ads, so do not assume it spells out your case.

What the page does say
The page is short, so the table covers most of it.
| Question | Answer on the page |
|---|---|
| What triggers it? | Created or significantly edited with Meta's generative AI creative features, or created or edited with third-party AI tools |
| Examples of significant edits | Background generation and image generation |
| What does not trigger it? | Minor changes such as image resizing or color correction |
| Where is it shown? | On the About this ad screen in the three-dot menu; sometimes next to the Sponsored label |
| Is coverage complete? | No. Not all ads using Meta's generative AI features will have AI info while tools roll out |
Video is the gap
The page speaks about images. Separately, ads about social issues, elections or politics must disclose when image, video or audio is created or edited with AI. That is a different rule with its own deadlines, and our post on the political ad blackout covers it.
For an ordinary product ad with an AI-generated clip, the safe reading is that Meta may label it. Plan for the label to appear, and do not build a creative that depends on there being none.
Organic Reels are a different path
If you publish a Reel with the Instagram API, the platform changelog for June 22, 2026 describes is_ai_generated, a boolean you set on the media container to self-disclose. That field is for organic content. The help page above is about ads.
What Sume does and does not do
Where Sume's role ends.
- Sume generates and edits video files. It does not add or remove Meta's AI info label, which Meta applies.
- Sume does not submit ads, so a disclosure toggle in Ads Manager is yours to set.
- If you used AI for the whole clip, say so in your own review notes before upload.
