Luma Plus at $25 a month billed yearly gives 10,000 credits, which is 25 text-to-video clips of 5 seconds at 1080p on Ray3.2, 100 at 720p or 200 at 540p. The same $25 spent per job on Sume buys 25 clips of 5 seconds on MiniMax H3 Max at 1080p, so at 1080p the two come out equal. Luma's 540p and 720p drafts are cheaper per clip than the Wan 3.0 and H3 Max rows in the table below.

Luma's side, from its pricing page

The page lists Plus at $30 monthly or $25 billed yearly for 10,000 credits, Pro at $90 or $75 for 40,000, and Ultra at $300 or $250 for 150,000. Ray3.2 text-to-video and image-to-video (SDR base rate; HDR costs more) cost 50 credits per 5 seconds at 540p, 100 at 720p and 400 at 1080p, and clips run up to 10 seconds, with a 10-second clip costing three times the 5-second credits.

How to read the table

Sume figures are the provider list price times 1.25 from the repository price tables. A clip that needs a retake costs again on either side.

  • Luma's 540p row is the cheapest way to draft, and Sume has no 540p tier, so compare it with 480p loosely.
  • At 1080p the two options tie on count, but Luma's credits are a monthly allowance and Sume's balance is not.
  • Sume's H3 Max takes 5 to 15 seconds per job, so a 5-second clip is its minimum.

Which to choose

Pick Luma if you want its interface, its Ray models and a fixed monthly spend. Pick Sume if you want the generation and the finishing steps, trim, captions and timeline assembly, behind one API key and paid per job. For a product team, the deciding factor is usually whether the render has to be triggered by code, not the price of a 5-second clip.

Method and limits

Luma credit figures are copied from the pricing page and use the annual Plus price of $25 for 10,000 credits. Text-to-video and image-to-video share a rate on Luma's page; video-to-video is priced per second at a different rate and is left out. Sume rows are list price times 1.25. Neither side includes retakes, and Luma's page does not say here whether unused credits carry over, so the table assumes you spend the month's credits in the month.
