Grok Imagine Video 1.5 for episode teasers: key art to 4-15 s

Sume lists Grok Imagine Video 1.5 as image-to-video only, 480p or 720p, 4-15 s. Use it to animate one key-art still into a teaser, not to cast a scene.

Use Grok Imagine Video 1.5 on Sume when you have a finished still, such as the key art for next week's episode, and want it to move for 4 to 15 seconds. It is image-to-video only at 480p or 720p, so it does not accept a text-only request. For a scene with a recurring cast you will want a model that takes reference images.

What Sume lists

The model is a narrow tool by design. It takes a single image and returns motion, with no reference list and no cast. That is why it suits teasers and why it does not suit episodes.

Teaser workflow

Take the key-art still for the episode (the same image you will use as the thumbnail), send it as the first frame and describe a small motion: a slow push-in, hair moving, a light turning on. Keep the clip to 4 to 6 seconds, long enough to loop in a feed and short enough that you are not paying to animate a poster.

Keep the clip short on purpose. A 4 to 6 second teaser is a loop for a feed, and each extra second is a charge for a motion nobody asked for. The model has no text-only mode, so the still has to be ready before you call it.

The still must be reachable at a public HTTPS address; a link to your own machine is refused. Host it with the asset library or any durable URL first, and check the result against the key art before you post it.

Price check

We do not quote a per-second price here, because the catalog is the source for it. Call GET /v1/videos/models with your key and read the pricing_skus field for grok-imagine-video-1.5. The values are Sume's billable rates as decimal-USD strings, so multiply them by your duration to get the cost of a teaser.

When something else fits better

  • If the shot needs the same face as the episode, use a model with reference-to-video, such as Omni Flash 1.1, Wan 3.0 or MiniMax H3 Max.
  • If the teaser should open on the last frame of the previous episode, extract that frame first with the video frames endpoint.
  • If you need 1080p, this model is out; its listed top resolution is 720p.
