Google's pricing page says billing uses 5,792 tokens per second of 720p video, which it puts at approximately $0.10 per second under Standard pricing, and lists the model on the paid tier only.
The Google numbers come from Google's Gemini Developer API pricing page, read 2026-09-29; prices change, so check the page before you budget. How do I turn tokens into a price for one clip?
Google's footnote gives the conversion: billing is based on total output token consumption at 5,792 tokens per second of 720p video, and Standard pricing equates to approximately $0.10 per second. So a 10-second 720p clip is on the order of $1, before any input tokens for prompts, images or video you send. Google's page states the 720p rate only; it does not give a token rate for other resolutions in that footnote, so work those out from a Gemini API response rather than guessing.
Is there a free tier for Gemini API video?
Not for this model. The pricing page shows Free Tier as Not available for both input and output, and describes the model as generally available to developers on the paid tier of the Gemini API.
