Vertical hook at the Seedance 2.5 floor: 4 s costs $5.69 at 1080p
The shortest Seedance 2.5 job, 4 seconds at 9:16, costs $1.07 at 480p, $2.31 at 720p and $5.69 at 1080p on Sume.

The shortest Seedance 2.5 job on Sume is 4 seconds, and in 9:16 it costs $1.07 at 480p, $2.31 at 720p and $5.69 at 1080p. A 1080p hook costs 5.3 times the 480p version (read 2026-10-09).
Hook clips at the 4-second floor
Hooks are the first seconds of a vertical ad. Seedance 2.5 will not go below 4 seconds, so a hook is either 4 seconds or you pick a model with a lower floor such as Wan 3.0 (2 seconds).
| Resolution | Rate per second | 4 s hook | 5 s hook |
|---|---|---|---|
| 480p | $0.2687 | $1.07 | $1.34 |
| 720p | $0.5778 | $2.31 | $2.89 |
| 1080p | $1.4216 | $5.69 | $7.11 |
Send the hook
Use 480p to audition several hooks and 1080p only for the one you will run. A 1080p hook is expensive per second because Seedance is token-priced by pixels and time.
import os, time, requests
API = "https://api.sume.com/v1/videos"
H = {"Authorization": "Bearer " + os.environ["SUME_API_KEY"]}
body = {"model": "seedance-2.5", "prompt": "Extreme close-up: a hand snaps a bottle cap, fizz erupts, quick whip-pan to a smiling face", "duration": 4, "resolution": "480p", "aspect_ratio": "9:16"}
job = requests.post(API, headers={**H, "Idempotency-Key": "hook-fizz-001"}, json=body, timeout=60).json()
deadline = time.time() + 1800
while time.time() < deadline:
time.sleep(30)
job = requests.get(job["polling_url"], headers=H, timeout=60).json()
if job["status"] == "completed":
print(job["unsigned_urls"][0], job["usage"]["cost"])
break
if job["status"] in ("failed", "cancelled"):
print(job["status"], job.get("error"))
breakHook or full ad: where the money goes
A 4-second hook at 1080p costs $5.69. A 15-second 9:16 ad at 1080p costs $21.32. The hook is 27 percent of the full ad.
If the idea is to test hooks only, 480p drafts cost $1.07 each. Three hook drafts cost $3.22, which is 57 percent of one 1080p hook.
The rate is linear in seconds within a resolution, so a 4-second clip costs 4 times the per-second rate. There is no fixed fee on top.
Gotchas
- Six 480p hook drafts cost $6.45, slightly more than one 1080p hook ($5.69), so audition two or three variants rather than six.
- A 3-second request is outside the supported list and fails at submit, not at billing.
- Audio is optional via
generate_audio; the price estimate does not take an audio argument. - Keep the hook prompt to one action. Four seconds does not leave room for a second beat.
