Flameless candle listing: a doorstep clip that follows CPSC advice
CPSC says to keep candlelit jack-o-lanterns away from doorsteps and landings. Show a flame-free pumpkin in a 12-second clip, $0.22 on Sume.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission advises keeping candlelit jack-o-lanterns away from landings and doorsteps where costumes could brush against the flame. The page does not name flameless candles, so that part is your own product claim. A seller of LED candles can show a doorstep with a flame-free lit pumpkin in a 12-second clip. A trim and a caption job cost $0.22 on Sume.
What the CPSC page covers
Two points on the page matter to a candle seller: where to keep candlelit pumpkins, and what to keep them away from. The page does not recommend a substitute, so your clip should not attribute one to CPSC.
| Topic | CPSC advice |
|---|---|
| Doorsteps and landings | keep candlelit jack-o-lanterns away from them |
| Indoors | keep jack-o-lanterns away from curtains and furnishings |
| Not on the page | flameless candles are not named; that claim is yours |
| Costumes | children should carry flashlights to see and be seen |
Show the flame-free option on a real step
Film a porch step at dusk with a pumpkin lit by your flameless candle and a person in a long costume passing it. Do not stage a flame next to a costume: the page warns about that contact. A second, calmer shot shows the candle's switch or battery door.
Film the two shots in one 30-second take so lighting and framing match.
Cut, check, caption
Cut the 12 seconds you want with video trim. If a bright porch light causes glare behind your captions, video filter can dim the clip with the dim op, and the program check is free. Shoot at dusk with the porch light on so the candle still reads on camera.
Then use video captions with cues. Two cards are enough: "Flameless candle: no flame near costumes" and "Check your lights before each use." Drop the second card if it does not apply to your product.
| Step | Jobs | Subtotal |
|---|---|---|
| Trim to 12 s | 1 | $0.02 |
| Caption job, two cards | 1 | $0.20 |
| Total | 2 | $0.22 |
| Same clip, five product variants (5 captions) | 6 | $1.02 |
Claims to avoid
Do not say "fire-proof" or "safe for children." The page says nothing about flameless candles, so state the doorstep advice, name the page, and describe your own product plainly. Battery warnings belong on your packaging.
Before you publish
Sume tools read media from your workspace, so the recording must already be a media.sume.com artifact or asset; use that URL as the trim source. Off-host URLs are rejected. A trim needs start plus exactly one of end or duration, and precision defaults to exact, which lands on the frame you wrote down.
Captions with cues take your text with start and end seconds and skip speech-to-text, so a clip with no speech never hits caption_no_speech. A caption job covers a video up to 60 seconds, which is why each clip here stays well under that.
Shoot the clip at the same height as a trick-or-treater's hip, since that is where a costume hem meets a doorstep pumpkin. Hold each beat for at least three seconds, and name the CPSC page on the listing so a shopper can check the advice for themselves. Keep the two cards short enough to read in one glance.
