ElevenLabs cost per extra minute: $0.36 to $0.17 by plan
ElevenLabs lists an extra minute at about $0.36 on Free, $0.20 Starter, $0.18 Creator and $0.17 Pro. Sume's TTS is billed per 1,000 characters, not minutes.

On the ElevenLabs pricing table the "Extra minute" row for Text to Speech is about $0.36 on Free, $0.20 on Starter, $0.18 on Creator and $0.17 on Pro. Sume does not price speech by the minute at all: TTS 1.0 is $0.0475 per 1,000 characters, so cost follows the length of the script, not the length of the audio.
What does an extra minute cost on each ElevenLabs plan?
The table is on the subscription side of the pricing page, under the Text to Speech (UI) rows. The values carry a tilde in the page text, so treat them as approximate, as the page does. Read 2026-10-01.
| Plan | Extra minute (approx.) |
|---|---|
| Free | $0.36 |
| Starter | $0.20 |
| Creator | $0.18 |
| Pro | $0.17 |
How does Sume charge for text to speech?
The rate card lists TTS 1.0 at $0.0475 per 1,000 characters. The catalog notes that spaces and punctuation count, and that a request is limited to 20,000 characters. Per the admission docs, paid generation uses public Sume USD estimates: the estimate is reserved when the request is accepted, captured on success, and released or refunded when a job fails. The usage page points to the API pricing page for per-capability rates.
How do I compare a per-minute price with a per-character price?
You need a characters-per-minute figure for your own scripts; none is stated in either source, so measure it. Count the characters of a script you already narrated, time the audio, and divide. Multiply the characters per minute by the per-1,000-character rate to get Sume's cost for one minute of your speech. Do not reuse a speaking-rate guess from elsewhere, because it varies by language and voice.
Also note what the ElevenLabs table is: an overage price inside a subscription whose minutes are included first. Sume has no included minutes; every request is paid from the USD balance.
Where can I see the API-side pricing?
ElevenLabs publishes API prices separately, billed in dollars per character; see ElevenLabs API pricing: USD, not credits. For a broader view of TTS cost on Sume, read text-to-speech API pricing.
