Does a vertical 9:16 Omni Flash clip cost more than 16:9?
No: on Sume a 9:16 and a 16:9 Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 clip cost the same at each resolution and length. The side-by-side numbers and how to request each ratio.

No. A 10-second 1080p Omni Flash clip is $1.875 at 9:16 and $1.875 at 16:9 on Sume. Price depends on output seconds and resolution only; the aspect ratio is a free choice between the two the model offers.
That matters for vertical work. YouTube says Shorts can be up to three minutes long and square or vertical (read 2026-10-08, see sources), so a 9:16 render is the natural default and costs nothing extra.
Same price, both ratios
| Resolution | 5 s at 16:9 | 5 s at 9:16 | 10 s at 16:9 | 10 s at 9:16 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 360p | $0.1875 | $0.1875 | $0.375 | $0.375 |
| 720p | $0.625 | $0.625 | $1.25 | $1.25 |
| 1080p | $0.9375 | $0.9375 | $1.875 | $1.875 |
| 4K | $1.875 | $1.875 | $3.75 | $3.75 |
Asking for a ratio
Send aspect_ratio on the request. Omni accepts only 16:9 and 9:16, so a 1:1 or 4:3 request is outside the catalog envelope.

"prompt": "A barista pours latte art, close, steam rising, cafe chatter",
"duration": 5,
"resolution": "720p",
"aspect_ratio": "9:16"
}'One caution
The same story in both ratios is two jobs, not one render cropped twice. If you want a 16:9 master and a 9:16 cut, budget two clips; the second is the same price as the first.
Worked example: master plus vertical cut
An 8-second 1080p 16:9 master is $1.50 and a 9:16 cut of the same length is another $1.50, so the pair is $3.00. The ratio never changes the price; the second job does.
Omni clips run 3 to 10 seconds. To cover 180 seconds of vertical footage you need at least 18 ten-second clips; at 720p that is 18 x $1.25 = $22.50. Native synced audio is always on and included in these rates.
