To recolor a car in a video, send the clip to Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 as video_url and prompt: "Change the car to metallic blue. Keep everything else the same." DeepMind lists swapping objects as an Omni capability but publishes no recolor claim, so test on your footage and check reflections and plates.

Sources: DeepMind's Omni page, the Omni prompt guide and the Gemini API Omni docs (read 2026-10-03). Do not use recolored footage to advertise a real product's finish without checking it against the real thing.

What to name in the prompt

Say the finish as well as the color, because paint reads through reflections: metallic, matte or gloss. Say which car if there are several. Leave other elements alone with the closing phrase.

Request

Sume's edit mode is chosen by video_url: it cannot be combined with image_url, end_image_url or reference_*_urls, takes no aspect_ratio or duration, and resolution defaults to 720p. Native audio is always on.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-router/generate \

QA with stills

Compare source and result stills with Video inspect at several timestamps. Check that windows, wheels, badges and plates did not change, that reflections follow the new color, and that the car does not shift position. Existing posts cover other text-on-vehicle cases, such as signs and license plates.
