The number

On the Captions pricing page, Max is $24.99 a month for 500 credits, which is $0.04998 per credit ($24.99 divided by 500). The page does not state what a credit buys for any one feature, so a per-video price cannot be read from it. I will not guess it.

Captions plans

Every tier lands at about five cents per credit, so a bigger plan buys volume, not a discount. Enterprise is custom.

The Sume side

Sume sells a standalone caption job, POST /v1/video-captions, with styles slam, punch, tiktok-green and korean-ad. Every job is priced in dollars on the public rate card, and that is what you compare: dollars per finished caption job. Speech to text is $0.01 per audio minute, to the maximum of 10 minutes. See the rate card.

How to compare fairly

Captions is an app with a subscription; Sume is an API with per-job billing. If you need captions inside a pipeline, the API shape is the deciding factor, not the credit.

  • Find out in Captions' help center what a credit costs for your exact feature.
  • Multiply by $0.05 to get dollars.
  • Price the same clip on Sume, using the caption job and any avatar or TTS job.
  • Compare per finished clip, not per plan.
