A 22-second Sume Avatar 1.0 video with a product_image costs 22 x $0.194 = $4.268 (about $4.27) at standard, 22 x $0.258 = $5.676 ($5.68) at plus and 22 x $0.58 = $12.76 at max. Without the product image the same 22 seconds cost $4.048, $5.39 and $12.10.

What the product image adds

The catalog prices each tier with and without a product_image: standard $0.184 or $0.194, plus $0.245 or $0.258, max $0.55 or $0.58. The surcharge is $0.01, $0.013 and $0.03 per second. Over 22 seconds it is $0.22, $0.286 and $0.66.

The surcharge is small in dollars but it scales with length. At 60 seconds, the maximum window, it is $0.60 at standard, $0.78 at plus and $1.80 at max. If you make 100 videos a month, a 22-second plus run adds 100 x $0.286 = $28.60 for the product image.

plus$5.39$5.676$0.286
max$12.10$12.76$0.66

Is the image worth it?

The docs describe product_image as optional; you can omit it for a productless video. For a product demo the surcharge is a small share of the bill: 5 percent at standard ($0.22 of $4.268) and about 5 percent at max ($0.66 of $12.76).

If the product only needs to appear for a few seconds, consider a separate B-roll clip joined in a timeline rather than paying the per-second surcharge on the whole avatar render. A timeline render costs $0.10 per output minute, rounded up.

The catalog notes that billing uses the current chunk-planned billable seconds. The planned seconds are Sume's estimate of the script's duration, so a 22-second target may plan slightly differently from your read-through. Check the reservation on the first job, and adjust your multiplier if it differs.

  • product_image must be a fetchable public HTTPS URL.
  • Scene direction is separate: use scene with a prompt or a photo.
  • Billing uses current chunk-planned seconds, so confirm the reservation on the job.

Before you render

Run a preview first. Preview stills use the same request, so you can check that the product is visible and the framing is right before you pay for 22 seconds of video.

Mind where the product appears in the frame and in the script. The surcharge is the same whether the product is on screen for two seconds or twenty-two, so build the script around showing it. A line that names the product and holds it up at the start and again at the call to action makes use of what you paid for. If the product never matters to the words, drop product_image and pay the lower rate: at plus that is $0.245 per second instead of $0.258.

For a campaign, put both prices in the brief. A set of ten 22-second plus ads with a product image costs 10 x $5.676 = $56.76, and without it 10 x $5.39 = $53.90, so the product image adds $2.86 across the set.
