Avatar video with a product image: the extra cost per second
A product image adds $0.01 a second on standard, $0.013 on plus and $0.03 on max. At 30 seconds that is $0.30, $0.39 and $0.90 more than a productless clip.
Adding a product image to a Sume avatar video costs $0.01 more per second on standard, $0.013 on plus and $0.03 on max. For a 30-second clip that is $0.30, $0.39 or $0.90 on top of the base price, so the product is cheap next to the avatar itself.
The avatar video guide says to omit product_image for a productless clip. Duration is 4 to 60 seconds, output is 720p, and aspect_ratio accepts 1:1, 3:4, 9:16, 4:3 or 16:9 with 9:16 as the default.
Per-second rates
| Tier | No product | With product | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $0.184 | $0.194 | $0.010 |
| Plus (default) | $0.245 | $0.258 | $0.013 |
| Max | $0.55 | $0.58 | $0.030 |
A 30-second clip
| Tier | No product | With product |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $5.52 | $5.82 |
| Plus | $7.35 | $7.74 |
| Max | $16.50 | $17.40 |
What to decide
The product image is the smaller choice. The tier changes the price by a factor of three, from $5.82 to $17.40 for the same 30 seconds with a product. Choose the tier first by watching a short test, then add the product if the ad shows one.
One avatar and one shared scene serve the whole final video, so a multi-shot ad uses one product image. If you want separate scenes you need separate jobs, and the Timeline can join them. A new avatar is a one-time $0.95 to create and then costs nothing to reuse except the per-second rate.
