Amazon product tags on Shorts: no timestamps, so cut the product beat

Amazon products can be tagged in YouTube Shorts, but product timestamps are not available on Shorts. Build a clear product beat with Sume trim and Timeline.

Creators in YouTube's shopping affiliate program can tag Amazon products in Shorts, but YouTube's help page says product timestamps are only for long-form videos at least 1 minute long. On a Short the product shows as a Shopping product sticker, which defaults to the bottom-left corner and shows the first product in your tagged list. So the video itself has to show the product clearly for long enough, because you cannot pin a tag to the second it appears.

The YouTube facts come from Tag products in your content, Enhance your Shorts and Social Media Today's report, all read on 2026-10-03; the report is third-party. Sume has no integration with YouTube Shopping or Amazon.

What was announced?

The report says Amazon product tagging was added in August 2026. A creator needs to be in YouTube's shopping affiliate program and Amazon's influencer program and link the channel to the Amazon profile. The report describes Amazon tagging as available to U.S.-based creators, notes that the shopping affiliate program had earlier expanded to Thailand, India and the U.K., and quotes YouTube data from July 2026 that videos with product tags alone saw over 110% more product clicks than videos with description links alone.

What follows for the edit?

With no timestamp, a viewer who taps the product has only the picture to rely on. YouTube Help says you can reorder the tagged list to choose which product appears as the sticker, and adjust its size and placement in the mobile app. The Shopping Product sticker is one of the stickers listed on the Enhance your Shorts page, next to Q&A, Quiz, Poll, Add yours, AI Sticker and Image Sticker. The practical edit rules are yours, not YouTube's: show the product early, hold it, and do not cut away from it in the same second the sticker appears.

  • Cut a product beat of a few seconds where the product is the only subject.
  • Keep the beat in one slot, so no transition lands during it.
  • Put the product name in a caption cue so the beat reads with sound off.
  • Keep the bottom-left corner free of captions and logos, since that is where the sticker sits by default.

How do I build that beat with Sume?

Use video trim to pull the beat out of longer footage: start plus duration, precision exact for a frame-accurate cut, $0.02 per job. Then place it in a Timeline 1.0 slot with a duration of the length you want. A slot must be at least 0.2 seconds, and the transition on the slot after it must be at most 1 second and at most half the shorter neighbour.

For the name on screen, standalone captions accept cues with text, start and end, which burn authored overlay copy without speech-to-text, at $0.20 for videos up to 60 seconds.

What Sume does not do

Sume does not tag products, does not connect to your Amazon account, and cannot tell you whether a product qualifies for the catalog. The report says Amazon provides a curated list and creators can request additions. Disclosure rules for affiliate links are also not stated in that report, so read YouTube's paid-promotion help before you post.
