Amazon Sponsored Products video: product must fill 50% of frame

Amazon's Sponsored Products video guide wants the product to fill at least half the frame and no audio. How to check a clip's stills before uploading it.

Amazon's Sponsored Products video guide says the product should fill at least 50% of the frame, and that audio is removed from the video. So a clip with a small product in a wide scene fails a rule that is easy to check before you upload. Sume's video inspect and video frames endpoints give you stills from a finished clip so you can look at the product's size in the frame.

Amazon's spec for the video

These are the values on Amazon's guide as read today. Stored Sume posts cover the broader spec, so this post stays with the framing rule and the stills check.

Check the product size with stills

Pull the default stills from video inspect: the docs say it returns 8 mid-bin stills when you omit frames. Open them in a row and ask, in each, whether the product covers about half the frame. If it does not in most frames, the clip wants a tighter shot.

Because Amazon removes the audio, put any message into on-screen text. If the clip is generated, request a close composition in the prompt, for example the product centered and large, and check again afterwards.

  • Count how many stills show the product at half the frame or more.
  • Make a tighter version of the clip if the product shrinks mid-shot.
  • Show the product in action, which Amazon's page asks for.

Limits

The "50%" is Amazon's wording for the product's share of the frame, and the stills check is a judgment you make by eye, not a measurement Sume returns. Amazon's page also says vertical 9:16 is to be available in 2026, which is a future statement. Amazon decides approval.
