AI presenter on LinkedIn: say who the avatar is and who backs it
LinkedIn says people come to connect with real people. How to use a Sume avatar video as a presenter without confusing viewers about who is speaking.
You can post an AI presenter on LinkedIn, but say on screen and in the post that the presenter is an avatar, and name the person or company that stands behind the message. LinkedIn's product chief is quoted as saying people come to LinkedIn to connect with real people, so the way to use an avatar is as a voice for a real team, not as a stand-in for one.
The quote is from TechCrunch's report of 2026-07-30 (press, not a LinkedIn page, read 2026-10-07). We did not find a LinkedIn rule that bans avatar video.
What Sume provides
POST /v1/avatar-1.0/talking-video makes a script-driven video from a ready avatar. From the avatar video guide:
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Route | POST /v1/avatar-1.0/talking-video |
| Length | Scripts or scene plans that estimate at 4 to 60 seconds |
| Quality | standard (fastest), plus (default), max (highest, slower) |
| Aspect ratio | 1:1, 3:4, 9:16, 4:3 or 16:9; default 9:16 |
| Resolution | 720p |
Match the format to LinkedIn
LinkedIn's video ad specs (read 2026-10-07) list 1:1 at 360x360 to 1920x1920, 4:5 at 720x900 recommended and 9:16 at 720x1280 recommended. The avatar route offers 1:1, 3:4, 9:16, 4:3 and 16:9; there is no 4:5 option, so choose 1:1 or 9:16 for a feed post, or use 16:9 if you will place it in a landscape slot.
Disclosure that works
These are working rules, not LinkedIn rules.
- A first-second title card or caption: the presenter's name and the line 'AI avatar'.
- The post text names the company page or the person who wrote the script and stands behind it.
- Use an avatar built from someone's own likeness only with their agreement.
- Keep claims to what your team can answer in the comments.
Add the words you control
Use video captions with cues to burn the disclosure line for the first seconds, at $0.20 per job for a video up to 60 seconds. For a series with the same lead, see the recurring lead cost post, and for the feed-quality side see the slop button post.
