Should every shopper get their own avatar video?

Usually not. A per-shopper render multiplies cost by the number of carts. Render one clip per product (or per product category) with the product image in it, and let your email or push system choose which clip each shopper sees. The clip does not change with views, so the cost is fixed once rendered.

What does it cost?

Avatar video cost for a 15 second reminder with a product image, Sume docs rates
TierRate per second15 seconds100 products
standard$0.194$2.91$291.00
plus (default)$0.258$3.87$387.00
max$0.58$8.70$870.00

How do I submit one?

Send avatar_handle, a script of about 15 seconds, and product_image as a fetchable public HTTPS image URL. Use an Idempotency-Key built from the SKU, so a re-run of your catalog job never pays twice for the same product. The duration window is 4 to 60 seconds and the default ratio is 9:16.

If the image URL is a share page and not a direct image, the API refuses it; see the product_image 400 post.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/avatar-1.0/talking-video \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: cart-reminder-sku-1001" \
  -d '{"avatar_handle":"your_avatar_handle",
       "product_image":"https://example.com/img/sku-1001.jpg",
       "script":"Still thinking about it? Your cart is saved, and it ships free today.",
       "aspect_ratio":"9:16","quality":"standard"}'

When does the clip go out?

Pick a cadence, such as one hour and one day after the cart is left, and cap it at two sends. The retargeting post on three trims from one ad covers the cheap path when you already have a hero ad and want short cuts instead of an avatar.
