Six hundred five-second VEED Fabric clips at 720p cost 600 x 5 x $0.1875 = $562.50. You do not need that whole amount on day one. Sume reserves the estimate at submit for accepted jobs, and a Startup workspace accepts 48 jobs at a time (8 processing plus 40 queued), so at most 48 x $0.9375 = $45.00 is held at once.

Why the hold is capped

The Generation admission page lists Startup at processing concurrency 8, queue capacity 40 and accepted job capacity 48. Submissions beyond that fail with 429 queue_full, and the failed admission releases its reservation. So a client that submits as capacity opens never holds more than 48 jobs of money.

The Models overview gives Fabric as veed/fabric-1.0, priced per audio second, and says to send a measured duration_seconds. A measured duration is what makes the reserve match the real price. The catalog lists 720p at $0.1875 and 480p at $0.10 per second.

Held versus spent

The table compares plans for the same 600 clips. The total spend is identical on every plan; only the held amount and the number of waves change.

Using the numbers

The balance only has to cover the held amount at the moment you submit, plus whatever the next wave needs when the earlier jobs capture. Keep topping up as jobs complete, or fund the full $562.50 up front if you prefer one transfer. At 480p the same batch is 600 x 5 x $0.10 = $300.00.

Submit with an Idempotency-Key per clip, such as reply-0001, so a retry after queue_full or a timeout does not charge twice.

A pacing plan

With 13 waves of up to 48 clips, a steady client submits a new job whenever one finishes. Each completed job captures its $0.9375 and frees a slot, so the balance falls by the captured amount while the hold stays near $45.00. If the balance is $100.00 at the start, you can run roughly 100 clips before a top-up is needed, as long as the hold fits.

Poll status with backoff and store job_id for every clip. On queue_full, wait, then resend with the same key. Startup writes are limited to 600 per minute, so submit rate is not the constraint here; accepted capacity is.

  • Total: 600 x $0.9375 = $562.50.
  • Held at once: 48 x $0.9375 = $45.00.
  • At 480p the clips are $0.50 each, $300.00 in total and $24.00 held.
