Forty sticker designs with a transparent background cost $0.99 on GPT Image 2.5 at low quality with background: transparent, or $1.90 to $4.90 if you generate on another model and remove the background with Sume's RMBG at $0.0225 per image. Prices are Sume's as of 2026-10-09.

The single-call route is cheaper because it skips a second job. The two-step route is the one to use when the sticker style you want comes from a different model, since only the ChatGPT Image 2.5 rows list the background field.

Cost of 40 designs

The per image column adds the generation price and the background removal price where it applies. Quality and size change the GPT Image 2.5 price: the figure here is low quality at 1K.

What to check before a print run

Die-cut sticker shops want a clean edge. A transparent PNG with soft hair-thin pixels around a shape can print with a halo, so look at the edge on a dark and a light background before you order. A white outline added in your own tool, a few pixels wide, hides most flaws.

Plan for rejects. If one design in five needs a retry, 40 keepers need 50 generations, which is $1.24 on the single-call route (50 times $0.02475, about $1.2375). Sume bills only completed generations, so a failed call costs nothing, but a bad design that completes does.

Sizing the sheet

A sticker sheet is usually laid out in your own design tool after the images are made. Ask for one subject per image, centered, with space around it, so that every cut-out has the same margin. A model that crowds the subject to the edge gives you a cut-out with a clipped shape.

Keep a log of the prompt behind each design that you keep. If the shop reprints the sheet next season, the log lets you regenerate a close match without starting over. Store the job id next to each file so that you can fetch the result again from Sume.

For a large run, set n above 1 only if the model allows it. Each model has its own ceiling, and an unlisted value returns a 400 error, so test one call before you queue the batch.

Running the cut-out in an agent

In MCP the background tool is rmbg_create, a paid tool that needs an idempotency_key, listed on the MCP tools and gates page. Use one key per sticker so that a retried call does not bill twice.

On the API, POST /v1/images takes background as auto, transparent or opaque for the ChatGPT Image 2.5 rows. Send a model id that the catalog lists, and read usage.cost on the first response to confirm the billed amount.
