Do resizing or color correction need Meta's AI info label?
Meta says minor edits such as resizing or color correction do not need an AI label, and not every ad shows one yet. What that means for a generated ad clip.

Meta draws a line at edit size. The Meta help page on AI info, read on 2026-10-05, says minor changes such as resizing or colour correction do not need labels. It also says the label appears under "About this ad" in the three-dot menu and sometimes next to Sponsored, and that not all ads using Meta's tools will carry the label yet.
The distinction is about what changed, not which software ran. Resizing real footage is minor. Generating a realistic person is not.
Edits against labels
| Edit | Label per Meta's pages |
|---|---|
| Resizing, colour correction | Not needed; minor changes |
| Photorealistic human generated by AI | Label next to Sponsored, per the Feb 2025 post updated through June 2026 |
| Image or video made with Meta's gen AI tools | AI info, though not every ad has it yet |
Trimming a generated clip does not make it minor
If the clip is AI-generated, cutting it to 15 seconds with Sume's video trim is a minor edit of an AI clip, not a conversion into real footage. The trim docs describe an ffmpeg job: exact precision re-encodes with libx264, and keyframe is a stream copy. Neither changes the fact that the content was generated.
The reverse also holds: a real photo that you only resize and recolour stays out of the label's scope per Meta's page, but replacing the person in it with a generated one does not.
A quick test
Sume's docs do not say that trimmed outputs keep or lose credentials, so check the delivered file before assuming either. Sume's docs describe a metadata field on video, image and music jobs that Sume stores on the job and does not send to the provider. I found nothing in the docs about Sume adding, keeping or removing C2PA credentials, watermarks or platform labels, so treat that as undocumented and check the delivered file.
- Ask what a viewer would believe is real. If it is a generated person or scene, treat the ad as AI-made.
- If you only resized, cropped or colour graded a real shot, no label is needed per Meta's page.
- Do not rely on a missing label as evidence: the page says not every AI ad has one yet.
- Record the edit type and the Sume job id for any generated element.
