YouTube 4K upload bitrate: 35-45 Mbps, 8K 80-160 Mbps
YouTube recommends 35-45 Mbps for 4K SDR at 24-30 fps and 80-160 Mbps for 8K. Sume's video router lists 4K on one model and sets no bitrate field.

YouTube's recommended SDR video bitrate for 4K (2160p) is 35-45 Mbps at 24, 25 or 30 fps and 53-68 Mbps at 48, 50 or 60 fps; for 8K it is 80-160 Mbps and 120-240 Mbps. The Sume video router page lists 4K only for gemini-omni-flash-1.1, and it lists no 8K option. The docs list no bitrate field for generation.
YouTube figures are from its Help page (undated) and Sume figures from the video router docs, read 2026-10-01.
What are YouTube's 4K and 8K rows?
Standard-rate SDR: 4K 35-45 Mbps, 8K 80-160 Mbps. High-frame-rate SDR: 4K 53-68 Mbps, 8K 120-240 Mbps. HDR uploads list higher figures, from 44-56 Mbps for 4K at standard rates. The page calls all of it recommendations for reference, says no bitrate limit is required, and adds that viewing new 4K uploads in 4K needs a browser or device that supports VP9.
Which Sume video models can reach those resolutions?
The video router page lists per-model envelopes, and tells you to read capabilities from GET /v1/video-router/models rather than assume one.
| Model | Stated resolutions | 4K listed |
|---|---|---|
seedance-2.5 | 480p, 720p, 1080p | Not listed |
minimax-h3 | Native 480p and 768p | Not listed |
minimax-h3-max | 480p, 768p, 1080p | Not listed |
gemini-omni-flash-1.1 | 360p, 720p, 1080p, 4K (3-10 s, 16:9 or 9:16) | Listed |
Does a 4K clip from Sume come out at 35-45 Mbps?
The docs do not say. They state no output bitrate for generated clips, so measure the file you receive (see how to check a video bitrate) and compare it with YouTube's figures. YouTube does not require a bitrate limit, so a gap is not a rejection.
