YouTube videos.insert: 100 calls per day and a batch plan
YouTube's videos.insert page lists 100 calls per day in a Video Uploads quota bucket. Size a Sume bulk queue of up to 100 Format runs to fit that day.

The videos.insert reference page says "100 calls per day", and that one call costs 1 unit in the Video Uploads quota bucket. So plan on about 100 uploads a day (the page does not say whether that is per project or per key), and size each Sume bulk queue to that number: one queue holds 1 to 100 Format runs, so a full queue is one day of uploads.
Quota facts are from YouTube's pages as read 2026-10-01; queue limits are from Sume's Bulk runs page.
What changed in YouTube's upload quota?
The revision history shows two steps. On December 4, 2025 the documented cost of a video upload moved from approximately 1600 units to approximately 100. On June 1, 2026 YouTube began a granular quota system, starting with videos.insert and search.list, each charged to its own bucket.
| Date | Note from the revision history |
|---|---|
| 2025-12-04 | Upload cost documented as approximately 100 units, down from approximately 1600 |
| 2026-06-01 | videos.insert and search.list charged to their own quota buckets |
| videos.insert page | 100 calls per day; 1 unit in the Video Uploads bucket |
How big should one Sume queue be?
A bulk queue takes items of 1 to 100 entries and a concurrency of 1 to 16. If every finished clip is uploaded, a queue of 100 uses the whole day's bucket, and no other upload fits that day. A queue of 60 leaves room for manual uploads and retries.
The queue keeps only concurrency items in flight and releases the rest as runs finish, so a modest value such as 4 does not change the total of uploads you are allowed.
What does the uploader need from Sume?
Each child run returns its media with a durable URL; expires_at is null for durable media.sume.com URLs, per Structured output. Your uploader reads those URLs and calls videos.insert itself. Count calls on your side, because Sume does not see your YouTube quota.
Can I get more than 100 calls a day?
The revision history says developers can view quota limits in the Google Cloud Console and request more through the Quota Extension Form. Until that is granted, split a long series across days and see a Shorts series as batch Format runs for the queue pattern.
