YouTube custom thumbnails need a verified account: check first
YouTube requires a verified account for custom thumbnails, and verification also lifts the 15 minute upload limit. Verify before you render a Sume batch.
YouTube only accepts custom thumbnails from a verified account, and the upload help page ties verification to processing time and to uploads longer than 15 minutes. Verify the channel before you render a batch of Sume videos and thumbnails, so you do not hold finished files that you cannot publish properly.
What does verification unlock?
Based on the two YouTube help pages.
| Area | Without verification | With verification |
|---|---|---|
| Custom thumbnails | Not accepted | Accepted |
| Video length | 15 minutes by default | Longer videos possible |
| Batch size | Up to 15 videos at a time | Up to 15 videos at a time |
What should I check first?
Run this check list before the render step.
- Channel verified in YouTube Studio
- Daily thumbnail allowance known for your channel
- Video length under 15 minutes if the channel is unverified
- Thumbnail size under 2 MB if you upload from a phone
How do Sume limits fit?
A Sume timeline render goes up to 1800 seconds, which is 30 minutes, so a long render can exceed the 15 minute default. Use the unbilled timeline plan call to read duration_seconds and billable_minutes before you commit.
