Why a 5-second Wan 3.0 480p job reserves 32 cents on Sume
Sume reserves the estimated price at submit and rounds up to a whole cent: 5 x $0.0625 = $0.3125 becomes 32 cents. Six worked examples from the catalog.

A 5-second Wan 3.0 clip at 480p is priced at 5 x $0.0625 = $0.3125, and Sume reserves 32 cents when you submit it. The catalog states the rule: the submit-time reservation stores the estimated billable amount in USD micros, rounds up to cents for balance compatibility, captures on completion, and refunds failed or pre-generation canceled jobs before capture.
This post works through the rounding for six cases so that a balance check or a low-balance rejection makes sense when you see it. The unrounded numbers use the shared list prices (provider list times 1.25 at default options).
Six reservations
Round up means any fraction of a cent goes to the next cent.
| Job | Computed price | Reserved (rounded up) | Rounding added |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini Omni Flash 1.1, 3 s, 360p | $0.1125 | $0.12 | $0.0075 |
| Wan 3.0, 5 s, 480p | $0.3125 | $0.32 | $0.0075 |
| MiniMax H3, 5 s, 480p | $0.3125 | $0.32 | $0.0075 |
| Seedance 2.0, 4 s, 480p | $0.70308 | $0.71 | $0.0069 |
| Seedance 2.5, 4 s, 480p | $1.074708 | $1.08 | $0.0053 |
| Kling 3.0 Motion Control, 1 s | $0.1575 | $0.16 | $0.0025 |
Check against the catalog
The catalog's Kling 3.0 Motion Control entry reports a minimum reservation of 16 cents and a maximum of 473 cents. Those match the rounding rule exactly: 1 x $0.1575 rounds up to 16 cents, and 30 x $0.1575 = $4.725 rounds up to 473 cents.
The Video Router entry reports a minimum of 2 cents and a maximum of 4,286 cents for the whole family, which gives the range any balance must cover for the cheapest and the most expensive single job.
What to do with this
Keep a balance above the reservation of the job you are about to run, not above its computed price. If you submit many small clips, the rounding is a fixed amount per job: a batch of 100 five-second Wan 480p clips reserves up to 100 x $0.32 = $32 at once, against $31.25 computed. The amount is captured on completion, and failed jobs are refunded before capture. For the full credit and error behavior, see the Sume errors and credits page.
Practical consequences
The following figures use the same list prices as the tables above.
- A balance of $0.30 cannot start the 5-second Wan 480p job, since the reservation is $0.32, even though the computed price is $0.3125.
- Jobs with a whole-cent price, such as an 8-second Omni 720p clip at $1.00, reserve exactly that figure.
- Sume refunds failed or canceled jobs before capture, so the reservation is not a charge until the job completes.
