TikTok Spark Ads: 10,000 per account cap, un-authorize before delete

TikTok's Spark Ads page caps an Ads Manager account at 10,000 Spark Ads and says to un-authorize a video before deleting it. A rule for batches of Sume renders.

A TikTok Ads Manager account can hold at most 10,000 Spark Ads, according to TikTok's Spark Ads page (read 2026-10-10), so a batch of AI renders should be counted against that number. The page also says to un-authorize a video as a Spark Ad before deleting it. Sume renders files; it does not manage either step.

What the page says

The facts below are from the TikTok page.

TikTok Spark Ads limits, from the TikTok Ads Help page (read 2026-10-10)

Why batches hit the cap

If you render variants, say 5 hooks times 4 captions times 3 aspect crops, one product gives 60 files. Posting every file and sparking every post adds up quickly across a catalog. Against a cap of 10,000 per account, 60 variants per product leaves room for 166 products before the count passes the limit. That is illustrative arithmetic; the 10,000 is the only TikTok number here.

The point is to decide which files deserve a Spark Ad. A short list of variants you intend to test, with an owner and a date to retire them, keeps the account well below the limit and keeps the deletion rule from becoming a surprise.

Keep the 10-minute rule in the render

Sparked videos are limited to 10 minutes. Sume's video inspect probes a source up to 1800 seconds, and video trim cuts a range with an exact libx264 re-encode, for $0.02 per job, with a source up to 1800 seconds and an output up to 900 seconds. Probe first, and trim to 600 seconds or less if it is longer.

Trim has an exact re-encode, so a cut lands on the frame you ask for rather than on the nearest keyframe. That matters when you are cutting a sparked video to a hard 600 second ceiling: ask for the range, and the output length is what you requested. It also means the output is a new file, so a trimmed version is a new asset to track in your list, separate from the source it came from.

  • Probe duration with video inspect.
  • If it is over 600 seconds, trim the range you want.
  • Keep a list of which files became Spark Ads, since deleting is a two step action on TikTok's side.

What Sume does not do

Sume does not post to TikTok or authorize a Spark Ad. The page does not say what happens at the cap, so check Ads Manager for the exact behavior. Keep your own record of file name, post and authorization status so you can un-authorize before you delete.

A simple ledger is enough: one row per rendered file with the Sume artifact, the TikTok post, whether it is authorized as a Spark Ad, and a retire date. When a campaign ends, un-authorize, then delete, then mark the row. The page names the order, and the ledger is the only way to follow it across hundreds of files. Hashtags, tags and emoji are allowed in Spark captions per the page, so caption text is not a constraint to design around.
