TikTok auto-selected creatives not adding my new videos: why
After you publish, TikTok keeps adding new creator content but not new videos from your own content. Add them by editing ad settings; batch the variants first.

New videos you add to your TikTok account or Creative Library after publishing a Smart+ campaign are not picked up automatically by auto-selected creatives. TikTok's help page says the system will not continuously add new videos from the Your own content source after publishing, and tells you to edit your ad settings to add them. So refreshing creative is a manual step for your own clips, and it is easier if the next batch is already made.
This is read from TikTok's How to use auto-selected creatives page (last updated April 2026, read 2026-10-02). The feature is described there as part of Smart+ campaigns.
Which sources refresh by themselves and which do not?
The help page separates three sources. Only one of them keeps flowing in without you.
| Source | After you publish |
|---|---|
| Creator content (TikTok One production, Content Suite, video codes) | The system continuously adds newly approved TikTok One produced assets and Content Suite videos |
| Your own content (account videos, Creative Library) | No new videos are added automatically; edit ad settings to add them |
| Content generated for you | Assets are not refreshed when your App Store or Google Play elements change |
How do I add new clips after launch?
Per the same page: edit your ad settings, choose Add creative assets, then either add TikTok posts (Link accounts for more accounts, or Add posts with video codes) or pick new videos from the Creative Library. You can also apply exclusion rules by source, creator, video caption text, creation date or individual video.
How do I have the next batch ready in advance?
If the next round is UGC-style clips from a script list, queue them as one job instead of one request at a time. Sume's bulk runs queue 1 to 100 Format runs with a concurrency window of 1 to 16. Each item is an ordinary Format run, and the queue is polled at GET /v1/format-run-queues/{id}.
Two details matter for a refresh cycle. First, the queue has no webhook; each item can carry its own communication.webhook_url. Second, a queue status of completed only means every item is terminal, so read counts.failed before you upload anything. A completed queue is not all succeeded covers that check.
For a single talking-avatar clip, Generate avatar video takes a script and returns an MP4 URL when the job completes. Upload the finished files to your Creative Library, then add them in ad settings.
What is a sensible refresh routine?
A routine that matches how the feature behaves:
- Generate the next batch of clips on a schedule you choose, before fatigue shows in your reporting.
- Review each clip, then upload it to the Creative Library.
- Edit the ad settings and add the new assets under Your own content; they do not arrive by themselves.
- Use exclusion rules to remove a clip rather than deleting the ad.
