Sync free trial limits vs how Sume surfaces lip sync cost
Sync's free trial gives 3 lip sync generations a month, 20 seconds each. Sume lists no trial cap here: paid jobs need funds, and dry_run previews cost first.

Sync's free plan gives 3 lip sync generations per month, up to 20 seconds each, and 15 seconds for sync-3. Sume's docs describe no free-trial allowance for these jobs: a paid request either has funds or fails with insufficient_credits, and you can preflight cost first.
Sync figures are from its Free Trial page; Sume figures from the Errors, MCP OAuth and Avatar video previews docs, read 2026-10-01.
What does the Sync free trial include?
| Resource | Limit |
|---|---|
| Lip sync generations per month | 3, of which at most 1 can be sync-3 |
| Max duration per generation | 20 seconds (15 seconds for sync-3) |
| Text-to-speech generations per month | 10 |
| Rollover | No |
| react-1 | Paid plans only |
| Watermark | Free and Hobbyist outputs carry a sync watermark |
What happens on Sume when there is no money for a job?
The Errors page lists 402 insufficient_credits: the workspace wallet cannot fund the run, next_action is add_funds, and retrying without topping up returns the same answer. There is no silent downgrade to a cheaper path described there.
How do I see cost before paying?
Over MCP, paid submits require an idempotency_key, and an optional dry_run preflights cost; an optional max_spend_usd is enforced only when you provide it. For talking video, the Avatar video previews flow generates first-frame stills so you can approve composition before spending a full Avatar Video generation. Inline captions do not create a separate billed caption job. For stills before a full render see Avatar video first-frame previews.
What should I do to evaluate quality cheaply?
Keep test clips short, since both services bound clip length: see lip sync clips longer than 15 seconds. Run previews first, use dry_run for the estimate, and only then submit the full render.

- Sync Labs max video length by plan vs Sume avatar video limit
Sync Labs caps video at 1, 5 or 10 minutes on its lower plans. A Sume avatar video job covers 4 to 60 seconds; split longer scripts into several jobs.
- Sync Labs pricing per second, and a Sume dry_run cost preview
Sync Labs bills per second on top of a $5, $19 or $49 plan, and lists sync-3 at $0.107 to $0.133 per second. On Sume, preview a paid call with dry_run first.
- Synthesia auto top-up vs Sume: manual dashboard top-ups
Synthesia now offers automatic credit top-ups. Sume top-ups are a manual Stripe-backed dashboard action; a low balance fails at submit, not mid-job.
- Video render priced per minute: 61 seconds bills two minutes
Sume Timeline bills per ceil(output minute), so a 61-second render counts as 2 minutes. A worked rounding table for 59, 60 and 61 seconds.
