Sume media tool prices: background removal, upscale, timeline
Remove background $0.0225 per image, image upscale $0.20, video upscale $0.009 a second, timeline $0.10 an output minute. Batch costs at 10 to 1,000.

The Media tools section of the Sume API rate card lists four fixed prices. They are small, so the way to read them is in batches. Background removal is $0.0225 per image. Image upscale is $0.20 per image. Video upscale is $0.009 per second, up to 30 seconds. Timeline rendering is $0.10 per output minute, up to 1,800 seconds.
Unlike generation, these tools do not scale with a vendor list price you have to look up. The figures are what the wallet is charged. See the billing and credits docs for how the wallet balance works.
Batch costs
| Tool | Unit | 10 units | 100 units | 1,000 units |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remove background | per image | $0.225 | $2.25 | $22.50 |
| Image upscale | per image | $2.00 | $20.00 | $200.00 |
| Video upscale | per second | $0.09 | $0.90 | $9.00 |
| Timeline | per output minute | $1.00 | $10.00 | $100.00 |
Reading the table
Background removal for a 1,000 image catalog is $22.50, while upscaling the same 1,000 images is $200.00, about 8.9 times as much per image. If you upscale only the images that ship in the hero slot, the tool bill drops by an order of magnitude.
Video upscale is billed by the second, so 100 units means 100 seconds of video, under four 30 second jobs' maximum. Timeline is billed on output length, so a 10 minute render is $1.00.
Add these to the generation cost when you budget. For a generated image, the router price comes first, then background removal if you need a cutout, then upscale if the size demands it. Tally the chain per asset before you multiply by volume.
- Remove background first, upscale only what ships.
- Video upscale is capped at 30 seconds per job.
- Timeline is capped at 1,800 seconds of output.
