Lost a 30-second video job after SSH died? Sume CLI recovery
There is no sume video subcommand, but the Sume CLI recovers any job you made through the API: jobs status, watch, result and download. Never resubmit.

Run sume jobs status <job_id>, then sume jobs watch <job_id>, then sume jobs download <job_id> --output-dir ./out. These commands work for Image, Video, and Music jobs you created through the API, which is how a Seedance 2.5 or Wan 3.0 clip is made. Do not submit the paid request again.
The CLI has no sume video command today. It submits Avatar jobs, and for Video you call the HTTP API and use the CLI to recover the job.
Install and sign in
The hosted installer puts the native binary in ~/.sume-com/bin after a checksum check. Sign in with the browser, or use --no-browser on a remote machine. CI can use an API key instead.
curl https://cli.sume.com/install -fsS | bash
sume login --no-browser
sume auth status
sume doctor --agent --jsonRecover a job
Each command takes the job id you stored at submit time. --agent --json prints machine-readable output with URL-like and sensitive fields redacted. jobs watch polls until the job is terminal or a timeout occurs.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| sume jobs list --agent --json | Find the job if you lost the id |
| sume jobs status <job_id> --agent --json | Current state |
| sume jobs events <job_id> --agent --json | Timeline for debugging |
| sume jobs watch <job_id> | Poll to a terminal state |
| sume jobs result <job_id> --agent --json | Result payload |
| sume jobs download <job_id> --output-dir ./out | Write media to disk |
| sume jobs cancel <job_id> --confirm-submit | Cancel before generation starts |
sume jobs status job_123 --agent --json
sume jobs watch job_123
sume jobs download job_123 --output-dir ./outWhat the CLI will not do
It cannot cancel a job after generation starts; that returns 409 job_generation_already_started. Cancelling a queued job before it starts is allowed, which is why you check sume jobs status first when you see a stuck queue.

- Sume Images API has no b64_json: turn data[].url into base64
POST /v1/images returns a Sume-hosted data[].url, not b64_json. Fetch the URL and encode it yourself; 202 means poll the job. Python example inside.
- No progress percent in Sume job events: what to log and show instead
Sume's job events are a public timeline of eight named events, not a progress feed. What each means, what to log, and what to show a user while a video renders.
- A Sume job looks stuck: wait, cancel or poll the events?
Read status, then events. Queued and processing mean wait, cancel only works before generation starts, and a client timeout never cancels the job.
- Sume job webhooks: 10 attempts, 30 seconds apart, at least 270 s
Ten attempts with a fixed 30-second gap cover at least 270 seconds. What that means for your deploys, cold starts and when to fall back to polling a Sume job.
