Snapchat's Sponsored Snaps page recommends a headline of 24 to 28 characters, on a 9:16 video or image. The page also describes UGC-style video under 10 seconds. A headline is easy to get wrong when you write forty of them, so count them in code before you queue the clips. The script below flags anything outside the range.

What does Snapchat say?

The headline length is a recommendation, not a hard limit, so treat a miss as a prompt to rewrite, not as a rejection.

How do I check a batch?

Keep the headlines in a list and print every one that is outside the range. Counting len() counts characters, which is what the page uses.

headlines = [
    "Gift-ready in one tap",
    "Warm hands, zero fuss all winter",
    "Wrap, scan, send: done today",
]

LOW, HIGH = 24, 28
for h in headlines:
    n = len(h)
    status = "ok" if LOW <= n <= HIGH else ("short" if n < LOW else "long")
    print(f"{n:>2} {status:<5} {h}")

How do I make the clips?

For a creator-style clip under 10 seconds, the sume-close-camera-ugc Format in the catalog is built for close-camera UGC. Ask for 9:16 and a length under 10 seconds in the instruction. For many headlines, queue the runs in Bulk runs, with a fresh Idempotency-Key for each batch.

Avatar 1.0 can also make a short presenter clip, but it speaks English only.

What should a headline do?

The character count is only a guide. A headline still has to say something about the product.

  • Name the item or the benefit, not the brand alone.
  • Avoid claims you cannot show in the clip.
  • Keep the same wording as the product page, so the shopper's path stays consistent.
  • Write three versions for each clip, and run the check over all of them.

How do I keep the files organized?

Name each clip after its headline and its run, such as warm-gloves-v1.mp4, and keep the headline list in the same repo as the script. When a headline is changed, run the check again before the clip is sent for review. A short check on every change is quicker than finding one wrong headline after the ads are live.
