A secondary summary of Snapchat's help center reports Spotlight ads at 5 to 60 seconds, up to 1 GB, with 32 MB recommended. Confirm against the live help page before you upload. On Sume, a 9:16 clip in that window is one POST /v1/videos call.

The numbers

Treat the recommended size as the real target. The 1 GB cap is the failure boundary, not a goal.

Fitting the length on Sume

Limits are per model. seedance-2.5 accepts 4 to 30 seconds, so a 5 to 30 second Spotlight clip fits in one job. gemini-omni-flash-1.1 accepts 3 to 10 seconds. A 45 or 60 second ad needs more than one generation, or Avatar Video, which accepts scripts that estimate to 4 to 60 seconds.

  • Vertical: set aspect_ratio to 9:16.
  • Lower resolution to 720p when file size matters.
  • Read supported_durations from GET /v1/videos/models rather than assuming.

A vertical request

Use the asynchronous API: submit, poll the job, then download from unsigned_urls[0]. Send an Idempotency-Key on every paid submit so a retry returns the original job instead of a second charge.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/videos \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: spotlight-001" \
  -d '{
    "model": "seedance-2.5",
    "prompt": "Vertical product clip on a desk, natural light, hand enters frame",
    "aspect_ratio": "9:16",
    "resolution": "720p",
    "duration": 15
  }'

Check the file before upload

The docs do not publish output file sizes, so measure the downloaded MP4 yourself against 32 MB. If it is over, regenerate at a lower resolution or a shorter duration instead of compressing blindly.
