Small Business Saturday Nov 28, 2026: put a shop plate over your clip

Small Business Saturday is Nov 28, 2026. Sume Timeline compose lays one still, like a shop card, over a clip and returns one MP4 for a flat credit price.

The fast way to give a shop clip an address, hours and a Shop Small line is to overlay one still card on the video with Sume Timeline compose. It returns one MP4 with the card and the clip on screen together. Small Business Saturday is Saturday, November 28, 2026, the day after Black Friday, so the card should say Saturday hours, not the week's.

Compose takes exactly one still and one video, both already hosted on media.sume.com. It uses no model inference, only ffmpeg on a worker, and costs a flat number of credits per job. The current credits are on the API rate card.

Overlay or stack?

Both operations are in the compose docs. Pick by what the card says.

Call it

Import the card and the clip first with POST /v1/media-imports, because off-host URLs are refused at admit. Idempotency-Key is required. The output length comes from the video, to a ceiling of 300 seconds; the card stays up for the whole clip.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/timeline-1.0/compose \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: sbs-2026-11-28-shopfront-1" \

# Poll GET /v1/jobs/{id}/status, then GET /v1/jobs/{id}/result for video_url.

Details

If the clip has no audio, the job still succeeds with a compose_video_has_no_audio warning; add a music bed later in Timeline 1.0. Mixing stack keys into an overlay request is a 400, and so is a left or right region on a horizontal split.

Make the card as a still you can proofread before it goes on a clip. A good plate has the shop name, the Saturday hours, the address and one line of offer, and nothing else.

  • Set output to the size of the timeline you will use next to avoid a second rescale.
  • A card of width 0.9 and margin 0.05 keeps text away from the frame edge.
  • Render the card once and reuse it across clips; compose is per clip.
