Shorts Quiz, Q&A and Add yours stickers: add them after import
Shorts stickers (Quiz, Q&A, Add yours, Poll) are added in YouTube's app editor. The limits YouTube lists, and how to hand it a clean vertical file from Sume.

Quiz, Q&A and Add yours stickers are all added inside YouTube's Shorts editor, after you record or import a video. YouTube's Enhance your Shorts page says to tap Sticker in the editor, then pick the sticker type. None can be baked into a file you make elsewhere, so the workflow is: make a clean vertical video, bring it into the YouTube app from your gallery, then add the sticker.
This post lists the sticker rules the help page gives and the layout choices that make room for them.
Which stickers does YouTube list, and what are their limits?
The page lists stickers you add after recording. These are the ones with stated rules:
| Sticker | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Quiz | Question up to 3 lines and two answer options of up to 2 lines each; the question can be left blank if the video shows it; the first option is the correct answer by default; responses are anonymous |
| Q&A | Type your question; viewer responses become public comments visible to other viewers |
| Add yours | Answer prompts with your own Short; your audience can add their own Short in response |
| Poll | Two options; stays open while the Short is published and viewers can change their vote; can't be applied to unlisted or private Shorts |
| Image and AI sticker | Image from your gallery, with an optional white border; or describe an image and pick one of four |
Do stickers work on every Short?
Not always. The page says quizzes on Made for Kids Shorts, and on unlisted or private Shorts, aren't interactive, and that the poll sticker can't be applied to unlisted or private Shorts. If you publish as private first for a review, expect the stickers to be inert until the visibility changes.
Our post on poll stickers on a Short made outside YouTube covers the same import path for the Poll sticker.
How do I bring a Sume video into the editor?
The page says that on the record screen, you tap the gallery button in the lower-left corner to import clips into your Short, or choose a longer video to trim to 60 seconds or less. So save the file to your phone, open Create, then Short, and import it.
Then leave space. The editor shows visual guides while you drag stickers, marking where the like button, comments and description might sit. Plan the sticker's spot before you render: keep faces and key text out of the area where you will drop the sticker.
What should I ask Sume for?
Make the file vertical and at a length that suits the interaction. A Quiz or Q&A is a 15 to 30 second Short with a clear question. In Sume:
- Generate a clip with the Video Router using
aspect_ratio9:16; the doc lists each model's supported ratios and durations in the catalog. - Assemble several clips with Timeline 1.0, which defaults to 1080 by 1920 output and lets
video[].fitbecover,contain,stretchorblur. - If the video already shows or speaks the quiz question, leave the sticker's question field blank, as the page allows; otherwise the sticker repeats it.
Check the catalog before you pick a model
Aspect ratios and durations differ by model, so read them from the catalog instead of assuming. The doc says each model advertises the subset it accepts in supported_aspect_ratios. This request lists them:
curl -s https://api.sume.com/v1/videos/models \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
| jq '.data[] | {id, supported_aspect_ratios, supported_durations}'What to do after upload
Open the published Short on a phone and try the sticker, since a quiz or poll only works while the Short is public. For Q&A, plan to moderate: the page says responses become public comments.
