Runway MCP is Streamable HTTP only: connecting Sume the same way
Runway's MCP supports Streamable HTTP, not SSE or stdio. Sume's hosted MCP is one HTTPS URL too. Exact URLs, Cursor and Claude Code lines, and a 405.

Runway's help page says its MCP currently supports only Streamable HTTP, not SSE or stdio, and that an SSE connection returns a 405. Sume's hosted MCP is likewise a single remote URL, https://mcp.sume.com/mcp, which the quickstart connects with an HTTP transport. If your client lets you pick a transport, choose HTTP or Streamable HTTP for both.
Two connectors compared
| Question | Runway MCP | Sume hosted MCP |
|---|---|---|
| URL | https://mcp.runwayml.com/mcp | https://mcp.sume.com/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP only; SSE returns 405 | HTTP transport in the quickstart (claude mcp add --transport http) |
| stdio | Not supported | The quickstart connects to the hosted URL; a local stdio server from the CLI is not launched yet |
| Clients on the page | Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot, Cursor, Replit | Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other HTTP MCP clients |
| Sign-in | Your Runway account | OAuth on the MCP host, or an API key |
Add both to Cursor
Cursor's mcp.json takes a url entry for each remote server. After saving, press Connect next to each and sign in; for Sume, consent is on the MCP host.

}Claude Code
For Claude Code, the Sume quickstart gives two commands: add the server with an HTTP transport, then log in. Ask the client to call tools_list or mcp_health to confirm.
claude mcp add --transport http sume https://mcp.sume.com/mcp
claude mcp login sumeIf something fails
- A 405 on Runway usually means the client chose SSE; switch the transport to HTTP.
- Check the client's MCP log; Runway's page points Cursor users at the MCP Logs panel.
- On Sume, call mcp_health and confirm authenticated.auth_source before debugging tools.
