Blackmagic's 21.1 release adds a multi-cam timeline viewer button, splitting at timecode gaps, and keyboard shortcuts for up to 25 angles. Sume has no multicam feature. What it offers for a similar result is Timeline 1.0: you choose one audio track as the spine and lay 1 to 200 video slots over it, each with its own start, duration and optional transition. You make the angle choices yourself, in code.

Building a multi-angle cut by hand

Record the same event from several cameras, sync them in your own tools, and decide which angle is on screen at which time. Each decision becomes a slot: the source URL, where in that source to start, and for how long. The render joins them against the audio, with fade, wipeleft, wiperight, slideup, slidedown or dissolve transitions. fit can be cover, contain, stretch or blur, and the default output is a 1080x1920 MP4. A /plan call checks the layout without billing.

Where it fits

This route suits generated or templated programs, such as a lecture with slide and speaker cuts, where the schedule is known. It does not suit live switching, where an editor watches angles and reacts. Confirm the render rate in GET /v1/catalog, and use the unbilled plan call while you tune.

Honest limits

  • No audio-based sync and no automatic angle switching.
  • The spine is limited to 1800 seconds.
  • Blackmagic's release describes the viewer and shortcuts but not the sync method, so the comparison is on workflow only.
