Pull still frames from an AI video: Sume video-frames, at or fps
POST /v1/video-frames returns images at exact timestamps or at up to 2 fps. Request shape, the ready poll, and limits for a clip up to 300 seconds.

To get a still from a generated video, call POST /v1/video-frames with a list of timestamps in at. Each frame comes back with its time, a URL, and width and height. Use it for thumbnails, for checking a model's output at second 3, or as the first frame of a follow-up clip.
Two ways to choose frames
The job is asynchronous. Poll GET /v1/video-frames/{id} until resource_status is ready, then read the frames array.
| Option | Rule |
|---|---|
| at | 1 to 24 values; each at least 0 and below the clip duration |
| fps | Up to 2 frames per second |
| Source | Up to 300 seconds |
Gotchas
Job results and artifact links are described on the jobs and results page.
- A timestamp equal to the duration is rejected; use duration minus a small step for the last frame.
- Send a workspace artifact URL, the media.sume.com link from the job result, not a download link from the video endpoint.
- Do not store the frame URLs as permanent links without checking the retention rules in the docs.
