Product URL to video AI: how link-to-video tools work

Product URL to video AI reads a page's title, copy and images, then scripts and renders an ad. How it works, and what to send when a tool can't.

Product URL to video AI tools take a product page link, pull the page's title, description and images, write a script, and render a short video ad from them. Creatify's API, for example, first turns the URL into a "link" object for 1 credit, then renders a video from it at 5 credits per 30 seconds. If a tool has no link step, or reads your page wrong, send it the product photos and copy yourself; that is the path Sume's docs describe.

The link-to-video steps below come from Creatify's own API docs (use case, guide, FAQ, Billing), read on 2026-09-28. The Sume steps come from Create a run and the Format API docs.

How does a product URL become a video?

Creatify describes its flow in four stages: link scraping, AI script generation, video preview creation, and final video rendering. In API calls:

  • POST /api/links/ with the url extracts the title, description, images, videos and more. It typically takes under 60 seconds.
  • Optionally, PUT /api/links/{id}/ fixes what was pulled. Creatify recommends it: add a logo, remove low-quality images or videos, or rewrite the description.
  • POST /api/link_to_videos/ with the link id plus style fields (aspect ratio, length, language, target platform) starts the render. It takes around 5 minutes.
  • Poll GET /api/link_to_videos/{id}/ until status is done, then download video_output.

What does the tool pull from the page, and where does it go on Sume?

The link object is the tool's reading of your page. On a Sume Format run you fill the same content in yourself:

Link fields from Creatify's URL-to-Video guide; Sume fields from Create a run and the Format API, read 2026-09-28.
Page contentCreatify link fieldOn a Sume Format run
Product nametitleA key you choose inside input
Product copydescriptionA key you choose inside input
Product photosimage_urlsattachments, up to 30 images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF)
Product videosvideo_urlsVideo URLs inside input, at most 10 per run
Brand logologo_urlOne more image in attachments

What if the tool can't read my page, or reads it wrong?

Skip the scraping and send the fields yourself. Creatify has POST /api/links/link_with_params/ for this: it takes title, description, image_urls, video_urls and logo_url directly and costs 1 credit, like a scraped link. For your own catalog, read the product from your store's own API rather than from the rendered page. Shopify product video automation shows that pattern with a product webhook.

How do I make the video on Sume from a product link?

Send the product data, not only the link. Sume's docs describe no link-to-video step, and they don't say a catalog Format opens the page behind a URL you pass. They do say where the page's contents go: the photos in attachments as public HTTPS URLs, and the copy in input, which the docs call exactly where scraped product copy belongs. The agent reads input as caller data, not as instructions, and Sume publishes no fixed field list for it, so the table's keys are yours to choose. A product page URL can ride along in input too; unlike an image or video URL, it does not count against the run's media budget.

The full call, with the image limits and a sample body, is in Product photo to video API.

What does a product URL video cost?

On Creatify's API, a new link is 1 credit and URL to Video is 5 credits per 30 seconds, billed in 30-second increments; Creatify pricing and API credits turns that into dollars. On Sume, a Format run's generation is metered at the API pricing rates, plus a 5.5% agent fee by default, and generation_spend_cap_usd caps it per run: up to $500, and 0 is rejected.

What should I check before I publish it?

  • Use pages and images you own or have the rights to. A product link is not a license to the photos on it.
  • Drop low-resolution or off-brand images before the render, whichever tool pulls them.
  • Check the label and packaging in frames of the finished video; product logo warping shows how.
  • For many products at once, queue them as a batch; Creatify alternatives compares batch options.
