Podcast episode teaser for Thanksgiving week: trim, caption, post
Thanksgiving is Nov 26, 2026. Trim a 30-second moment from an episode video, burn in captions and add a title card, with limits on rights and accuracy.

If you publish a video podcast, the week of Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26, 2026, per OPM, read 2026-10-03) is a good reason to cut one short teaser from your latest episode rather than a recap. The recipe is three calls: trim a 20 to 40 second moment from the episode video, caption it with the captions route so the words show on mute, and join a title card in front with Timeline. Trim keeps the source file untouched and returns a new MP4.
The holiday date is the only outside fact in this post. Everything about trimming and captioning comes from the video trim and captions docs.
What each step does
The three steps are separate jobs. That means you can swap any one, for example trimming in your own editor and using only captions.
| Step | Route | Key inputs | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trim | POST /v1/video-trim | A video URL, start and end or duration; precision exact or keyframe | A new MP4 |
| Caption | POST /v1/video-captions | A video URL; speech is transcribed unless you pass cues | A captioned MP4 |
| Join | POST /v1/timeline-1.0/render | Ordered video slots from media.sume.com | One MP4 |
Choose the moment
The moment that works best is a complete thought of 20 to 40 seconds that does not need earlier context. Read the transcript, find one such answer, and write the start and end down in seconds.
- Pick exact precision when the cut must land on a word.
- Pick keyframe precision when speed matters more than the last half-second.
- Leave a beat of silence at the start so the caption has time to appear.
Caption it
Captions are transcribed from the audio by default. If the transcript gets a name wrong, pass the cues yourself with the corrected text.

}'Rights, accuracy and limits
Only cut episodes where every voice agreed to be published, and watch the finished clip for a changed meaning: a trimmed answer can sound like a different answer. Speech-to-text can misspell names, so read the burned-in text before you post. Sume does not distribute teasers; you upload them yourself.
