Pinterest video ads: 15 minutes allowed, 6-15 seconds recommended
Pinterest allows video ads from 4 s to 15 min and up to 2 GB but recommends 6-15 s. Most Sume video models top out at 15 s, so one generation fits the band.

Ship 6-15 seconds. Pinterest's product specs allow a video ad between 4 seconds and 15 minutes and up to 2 GB, but the same page recommends 6-15 seconds. That recommended band lines up with Sume's video catalog: per the Video Generation docs, every catalog model has a maximum of 15 seconds except the few listed with longer limits (for example seedance-2.5 at 4-30 s and wan-3.0 at 2-30 s). Check supported_durations for the model you pick.
Pinterest's numbers
Values from Pinterest's product specs page.
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Minimum length | 4 s |
| Maximum length | 15 min |
| Recommended length | 6-15 s |
| Maximum file size | Up to 2 GB |
| Aspect ratios | 1:1, or vertical 2:3, 4:5, 9:16 |
| Formats and codecs | MP4, MOV, M4V; H.264 or H.265 |
Match the length to the model
The Video Generation docs say limits differ per model and to read supported_resolutions, supported_aspect_ratios and supported_durations from GET /v1/videos/models before you submit. The example model entry lists aspect ratios 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 and 9:16, with durations from 4 to 15 s.
Of Pinterest's allowed ratios, 1:1 and 9:16 appear in that example list. 2:3 and 4:5 do not, so for those, generate at a listed ratio and decide on a crop or fit, or check your chosen model's list for what it really supports.
The 4 s floor on Pinterest is also the shortest duration in the example entry.
When to go longer
Longer than 15 s is allowed up to 15 minutes, but the page recommends the short band, so a longer cut should have a reason (a how-to, a tutorial). To build one, Timeline 1.0 assembles one audio spine plus ordered video slots into one MP4: audio.duration_seconds runs 1-1800, and the price is $0.10 per ceil(output minute). A 90-second cut is 2 billable minutes, so $0.20; a 45-second cut is 1 minute, so $0.10.
Pinterest's 15-minute cap is 900 s, which is inside Timeline's 1800 s limit. File size is the other cap, and 2 GB is far above what a short promo needs.
Decision rule
- Product promo or hook: one generation of 6-15 s.
- Explainer: stitch with Timeline, keep the first 6-15 s self-contained.
- Always read the real duration and file size from the final file.
