Pinterest CSV video thumbnail: mm:ss, seconds or an image URL
A Pinterest bulk CSV thumbnail can be mm:ss, seconds or a public image URL, and an image must match the video ratio. Make the still with Sume video-frames.
For a video row, Pinterest's bulk CSV requires a Thumbnail value, which can be a timestamp in mm:ss, a number of seconds, or a publicly available image URL. An image thumbnail must have the same aspect ratio as the video, which is automatic when you extract it from the video with Sume video-frames.
What can the Thumbnail column hold?
Pick the simplest option that works.
| Form | Example | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Timestamp | 00:03 | Nothing else |
| Seconds | 3 | Nothing else |
| Image URL | https://media.sume.com/... | Public link and the same ratio as the video |
How do I make a matching still?
video-frames keeps the source frame size unless you send max_edge, so the ratio matches. The submit returns 202, so poll for frames[].url.
curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-frames \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: pin-thumb-001" \
-d '{"video_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/talk.mp4", "at": [3], "format": "jpeg"}'When is a timestamp enough?
A timestamp costs nothing and cannot mismatch, so use it by default. Switch to an image URL only when the best frame is not a clean cut, for example a title card that you added in the edit. The extract is billed by its compute, so skip it when 00:03 works.
