Pinterest ad image size: 2:3, 1000x1500, 40-character title
Pinterest ad images: PNG or JPEG, 2:3 (1000x1500), 100-character title with about 40 showing. Why 1000x1500 clashes with Sume's x16 pixels rule.

Pinterest's ad specs ask for a PNG or JPEG image, recommend a 2:3 aspect ratio (1000 x 1500 pixels), and set a title limit of 100 characters of which the first 40 may show in feeds. On Sume, request aspect_ratio 2:3 rather than typing 1000x1500, because custom pixel sizes on GPT models need both edges to be multiples of 16 and 1500 is not.
Pinterest numbers are from its Business help page, read 2026-10-01. Sume parameters are from the image docs.
What does Pinterest say about ad images?
File size is 20 MB on desktop and 32 MB in-app. The page warns that Pins with an aspect ratio greater than 2:3 might get cut off in feeds. Descriptions go up to 800 characters.
| Field | Pinterest value |
|---|---|
| File type | PNG or JPEG |
| Max file size | Desktop 20 MB, in-app 32 MB |
| Recommended ratio | 2:3, or 1000 x 1500 pixels |
| Title | Up to 100 characters; first 40 may show (30 in double-byte languages) |
| Description | Up to 800 characters |
Why not just request 1000x1500?
The image docs describe GPT custom sizes as both edges multiples of 16, max edge 3840, aspect up to 3:1, and 655,360 to 8,294,400 total pixels. 1000 is not a multiple of 16 and neither is 1500, so that exact size is outside the rule. The docs also say aspect_ratio is ignored when image_size is set on custom-pixel models, so pick one.
How do I ask for a 2:3 image?
Send aspect_ratio set to 2:3 on a model whose catalog lists it, and set output_format to png or jpeg; the docs list png, jpeg, jpg and webp. The docs do not promise exact pixels from the ratio alone, so read the returned dimensions and resize in your own pipeline if you need 1000 x 1500 exactly. Background on the two parameters is in size versus image_size.
How long should the title be?
Write the title so the first 40 characters carry the point, since the page says only that many may show depending on the device. For Chinese, Japanese, Korean and other double-byte languages the page says 30. Sume generates the image; the title is metadata you set in Pinterest.
