Night shift on Nov 1: a handover training clip for the extra hour
NIST says clocks go back Nov 1, 2026 at 2 a.m. Write a 45-second avatar training clip that tells night staff how your site handles the 25-hour day.
On November 1, 2026 daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. local time, per NIST (read 2026-10-03), so the night shift that day works a 9-hour stretch for what the roster counts as 8. A short training clip, 45 seconds at most, is a good way to tell staff how your site handles it: who stays, who is paid for which hours, and what time the log is closed. Sume produces the avatar video; the policy is your HR team's, and it has to match the law where you operate and any contract.
NIST's page covers the clock change only. It says nothing about pay or scheduling, and neither does this post.
Questions the clip should answer
Write the policy first, then the script. Each question gets one sentence.
| Question | Who answers it | Sentence style |
|---|---|---|
| When does the clock change? | NIST: November 1 at 2 a.m. local time | Plain date and time |
| How long is the shift on paper? | Your HR policy | One number, in hours |
| Who covers the extra hour? | Your manager | A name or role, not a promise |
| Where do I log it? | Your system | The system name and the field |
Script rules for training clips
Training clips age. Make the script easy to replace next year.
- Keep it at 60 seconds or less; the avatar route accepts 4 to 60 seconds.
- Use sentences under 20 words so burned-in captions stay readable.
- Put the date in text, not in speech alone, so it survives the mute button.
- Name one person to ask if the clip is unclear.
Preview before you render
The avatar preview route renders a short draft so you can check the presenter and the voice before paying for a full render. When you like it, render the full clip with the same script.

A clip is not a policy. If staff have different contracts, they may need different clips, and the legal answer about pay is not one a generated presenter should give. Have HR approve the script, and keep the approved text with the file. Do not use a real manager's likeness without written consent.
