Google bills Nano Banana 2.1 through its Batch API at exactly half the Standard rate: $0.0168 per 1K image, $0.0252 per 2K and $0.0567 per 4K. For 100,000 images at 1K that is $1,680 in batch against $3,360 on Standard, before input tokens and any search grounding.

The two price lines

Batch image output is $15 per 1M tokens against $30 on Standard, with the same token counts per size (1,120, 1,680 and 3,780). Batch input is $0.75 per 1M against $1.50, and batch text and thinking output is $3.75 against $7.50.

What you give up

Batch is a separate interface, not a flag on the normal call, and the results are not interactive. Google's pricing page lists the price only; read the Batch API guide for turnaround and limits before you promise a delivery time. Do not put anything into a batch that a customer is waiting on.

When batch fits

  • Catalogue back-fills where nobody watches a spinner.
  • Re-rendering a whole library after a prompt or brand change.
  • Overnight variant sheets for ad testing.

What Sume offers instead

Sume has no half-price batch tier for images: every POST /v1/images call is billed at the endpoint price, and a failed generation is not charged. For volume, Sume's Format API has bulk runs (POST /v1/formats/:handle/:slug/bulk-runs), which queue many runs of one recipe at normal prices. If half-price Google batch is what your volume needs, call Google's Batch API directly.
